Mission Supporters

Investor.com was launched in 2018 as a consumer advocacy project. Its founding mission: to serve Americans as a trusted resource for researching and comparing financial advisors. Today, that mission has expanded to include offering robust tools and personal-finance content to help Americans live their best financial lives.

Every month, our Trust Algorithm downloads the latest regulatory data for more than 17,000 financial advisory firms nationwide. Each one of investor.com’s Registered Investment Advisor pages lets consumers see firms’ key information at a glance, alerts them to any conflicts of interest a firm may have, shows them whether the firm has ever faced any disciplinary actions, and offers suggested questions to ask advisors. Our easy-to-digest data brings awareness and clarity to an often-opaque industry for Americans who are searching for a financial advisor they can trust.

Who is eligible?

The investor.com project was founded by Blain and Brandon Reinkensmeyer after their grandparents lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to a broker they thought they could trust — but who was, in reality, not a fiduciary.

That’s why we created our proprietary Trust Algorithm, to guide consumers toward finding a fiduciary financial advisor with whom they can trust their life savings.

Every month, we download hundreds of thousands of data points from the SEC IAPD database. That data is then fed into a scoring algorithm to rate firms on overall trustworthiness based on their regulatory records and potential conflicts of interest. Firms that are rated 4.5 or 5 stars by the algorithm are considered eligible to support and champion our mission.

Over 500,000 data points. 100% consumer advocacy. Helping Americans find a financial advisor they can trust.
